I have a corrupted file (doc) created in Libre writer. Only about a third of the pages now open

Potentially loosing a morning’s work. Track changes are on. Not sure how to recover the whole document.
An error occurred during opening the file. This may be caused by incorrect file contents.

The error details are:

File format error found at
SAXParseException: ‘[word/document.xml line 2]: Opening and ending tag mismatch: sdtContent line 0 and del’, Stream ‘word/document.xml’, Line 2, Column 92458(row,col).

I have no idea how to recover this document. Can any one assist?

File is 1.2MB link here: Sync.com | Control Panel

You can upload your file to a cloud somewhere and post the link here.

Thx. Have posted link in OP.

Your document is a .docx, i.e. a format alien to LO Writer. This means the document must undergo a conversion before being able to be handled by Writer. This means you bump into a double problem: either the DOCX itself is incorrect or contains an unmanaged block or after conversion the contents is incorrect.

Unless you have good reasons (the document was sent by an external sender; you are in collaborative work context; …), always work in native format to guarantee stability of formatting and reliability of contents. Only convert at the very end before sending to external recipients; otherwise, you’ll end up with a corrupted document sooner or later.

When I change extension to .zip, I can access to the document internals but it seems the XML for the contents is damaged. When I try to display it with an XML editor, I get the same error as above.

What you can try is to export word/document.xml as plain text. For that, remove all XML tags to recover your text (without any formatting). Then you can paste it or import it into a fresh document and reformat it. But, save it .odt to eliminate one cause of problems.

Amazing. I will stick to odt where possible in future. But how did you manage this?

Basically, as explained here:
