I have many documents I'm working on, and now can do nothing with them - please advise. This is getting quite urgent

Quits immediately after opening, says problem restoring windows

First time I’ve used this forum, not sure what shows to everyone. Problem is, every time I open LO it immediately quits, and says it does so while trying to restore windows. I get an option of ‘restore windows’ or ‘don’t restore windows’ but neither helps. I can open a file but can’t do anything with it. It then won’t quit, so I have to force quit each time. I’m using a Mac.

to clarify, it says it quits but actually doesn’t

Than for suggestion of LibreOffice startup always asking reopen windows, but ‘preferences’ os ghosted out so I can’t get to it

Please have a look at → LibreOffice startup always asking reopen windows,

and try the workaround (fdo#39007):

Comment #2:
You can bypass this deleting the Saved Application State for LibreOffice at:

~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/org.libreoffice.script.savedState/

In a Terminal:

$ rm -fr ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/org.libreoffice.script.savedState/

Comment #20:
Remember: the $ is your username and should not be included in the Terminal entry.
Just copy and paste this:

rm -fr ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/org.libreoffice.script.savedState/

And RESTART your Mac. It will boot up without the LibreOffice warning.

Comment #35:
Open Finder

Option-click the Go menu
Choose
Library from the menu to open the
folder in the Finder.
Click on the
folder Saved Application State

Delete the file
org.libreoffice.script.savedState

My husband found a folder called “saved application state” in the home library, and this contained another Libre Office preference which needed to be deleted

Everything ok again now (after I started thinking I’d have to buy MS Office to access my files again)
