IFERROR Statement Function Bug

I have a simple function =IFERROR(D7/C7,””) which has ceased to function on my workbook. The workbook has 8 tabs each with about 60 cell containing this function, all of them affected the same way. The workbook is around 3 years old and this function worked all that time.

I was making alterations to a macro when this problem appeared. (the marco is working fine)

Some of the features of this problem are as follows
The function works on a new workbook
Copy/Paste the formula from the new workbook does not make it work
If the function is rewritten a correct result will be returned but ceases to function subsequently

What do you get as a result? Error 522, # NAME, something else?

Unless my magic crystal malfunctions and fails to provide true answers without seeing the problematic data file, it tells that you should check your Sheet12.K5.

Just in case the implications of other respondents are not obvious:

What @mikekaganski and @Steph1 are trying to tell you: you have not provided enough information.

How did it cease?

  • No longer updating when source data changes?
  • Returning unexpected values?
    • What do you expect?
    • What do you get?
  • Showing the function name instead of result?
  • What is the purpose of the macro?
  • What is the name of the macro?
  • did you copy a selected cell, or did you enter “cell edit mode” and marked cell content to copy.
  • Does it cease to function after you save and reload the file?
    • What file type are you using?
    • Does the formula still remain intact in the cell when file is reloaded?
  • Does it immediately cease to function?
    If so, I guess the “cease” means that it does not update. Typically this is caused by unintentionally disabling the automatic recalculation.
    • Does it update when you press F9 ?
    • Does it update when you press Ctrl + Shift + F9 ?
    • Re-enable automatic recalculation from the Data - Calculate menu

If you provide access to your file it would answer, or help us guess the answers to, most of the questions posed.
If your issue is still unresolved, consider attaching your file to your question posting, and also add technical info about your setup (operating system brand/version, LibreOffice version). If the file cannot be attached, try to answer the questions.

Please forgive my delayed response.

The problem was resolved by “ * Re-enable automatic recalculation from the Data - Calculate menu “

I am not sure how the automatic recalculation was turned off, it was either some combination of key press or the actions of my macro.

Anyhooo… all is well now and thank you for your interest.
