Illustration start again from 1

Hello,

I am adding captions.
As I would like to my figure be numbered by Chapter, I think I understood to choose number by Level 2, right?

No, I insert my first two captions in Chapter 4. Result:

Illustration 1
Illustration 2

Ok, I didn’t have Illustration 4.1 and 4.2, but as long as the numbering increases within the chapter, I can add “4.” before the right number… but… next figure is numbere:

Illustration 1, again.

Why? It’s an entire day I am having problems with illustration. I really need help.

This seems to be exactly the same problem as Image numbering show wrong number.

Maybe I have understood that after updating the illustration table, the captions go back to normal
