I'm unable to launch LibreOffice when I double click desktop icon

When I double click the desktop icon for LibreOffice it does not open; I get this message - “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)”. I have to left click then click open; that works.

I cannot see a problem with LibreOffice here. Nonetheless you may try to run the installer a second time to repair the installation. If you distrust the installer, download it (or a newer version) only from https://www.libreoffice.org/.

Basically your problem is one of your system, not of LibO. The same error message is reported for MS “products”.
See here e.g.

I have already installed it twice. I’m running Windows 10 so maybe that’s the problem? It’s not a huge issue as I can run it by left clicking and clicking on open.

I did download it from libreoffice.org.

Thanks.

Many users of Win 10 (among them myself) don’t have the problem. In addition i’m one of the users installing nearly every version of LibO starting often with release candidates. No known problems! Therefore I would assume it’s a specific property of your system causing the issue for you. The contribution to the answers.microsoft.com thread I linked into my answer names suspects and hints to some possible remedy. Are you a user of FineReader e.g. (I’m not) or did you connect to anything alike?
