Image on title page is blurry/crusty when exported PDF

The image loaded in the document editor appears fine, but every time I export it to PDF the result appears extremely compressed. It’s a .png like every other file in the PDF, but it’s the only one that does this. I’ve looked at the image settings and I can’t find anything that’d make this happen.

How do I make the image export as normal?

If you are using a reduced palette then Click File > Export as > Export as PDF, in the dialogue, tick Lossless compression, you might want to set a new resolution or not depending in whether you have already sized the images.

Note that a binary image, literally just black or white, should be at 600 dpi to print without apparent loss of resolution. A greyscale image needs to be at only 300 dpi as it allows for smoothing at the edges

If you had jpeg images and you had already sized them to output size, then don’t reduce resolution.

PNG images are ultimately bitmaps. Consequently, if you don’t use them at their native resolution (or some rare integer multiples or submultiples like ÷2, ×2, ÷4, ×4), you’ll have interpolation artefacts making the image look “blurry” or slightly distorted.

But, we can’t judge by your screenshots because your display already did some scaling (independently from the scaling in your document).

This was the issue, thank you!
