Image won't paste if too large

I used to copy screenshots to the clipboard and paste them into Writer when I was using Gnome. However, I have switched to Xfce and it seems Writer will only allow me to paste an image if it is small. If the image is too large, the program hangs for a little while an then resumes without any kind of feedback.

What might be the cause of this? I am using version 3.6.2.2

I cannot give you the answer you asked for but, what about upgrading to 3.6.4 and see the problem remains or is solved?

@FletcherMoore, Were you able to upgrade to LO 3.6.4 or to the latest release (currently LO 4.0.1) ?
