Impress is deficient in terms of allowing the user to control the behaviour of embedded video. A reasonable starting point is:
Start on Click / Automatically
Show/hide controls
no crop / crop video start:end
Play once / loop
Hi @AndrewR,
Please file an enhancement bug and provide information about what video controls/settings you’d like to see. Don’t forget to mark your bug as an ‘enhancement’. The QA team will be happy to help you triage your feature request in the bugtracker.

Thanks!
I too would like to see some better video controls in LibreOffice. I am a music appreciation professor and I spend a great deal of my lectures playing, pausing, rewinding, and replaying videos and having my class listen and respond. I would much prefer to use LibreOffice to do my lessons, but because that is such a critical application to my use I am forced to use Google Drive presentations with embedded YouTube videos - a situation which is dependent on too many things outside my control for my liking.
