I want to play a music file across 4 or 5 slides without interruption in the middle of the presentation. I do not want to play the music during the whole presentation, just have it start when the first slide is reached and only until the slide I want is reached, then the music should end. I know how to add a music file to a slide but then it ends when I go to the next slide. I know how to add a music file to play over the whole presentation (all the slides), but what I need is for it to play over a small set of slides in the middle of the presentation. Powerpoint can do it by telling the audio file to play thru the next number of slides, how do I do that on Impress?
Use the Slide transition feature for start/stop an assigned music.
I see the option under Sound in the Slide Transition to “Stop Previous Sound” but I don’t see how I can tell the sound to continue thru slides without doing the “other music” selection which applies it to the whole presentation. If I want music to start on slide 12 and continue thru slide 17 and end when I go to Slide 18, I would mark the transition to 18 with Sound “Stop Previous Sound”… What do I do on slide 12 to initiate the sound and keep it going until I get to slide 18?
From the linked webpage:
You can use the Slide Transition pane to set up Impress so that a sound or a song is played throughout the presentation. To do that:
- Select the slide where you want the sound to start and go to the Slide transition pane.
- In the Modify transition section, select the entry Other sound from the Sound drop-down menu.
- Select the Loop until next sound checkbox if you want the sound to restart once it is finished.
Caution: Do NOT click the Apply to all button, otherwise your selected sound will restart at every slide.
It works for me in my LO 7.5.8
