Impress tab stops - change default permanently

Hi, I have been able to change the default tab stop measure from 1 inch to 0.5 inch (through Tools>Options>LibreOffice Impress>General>Tab stops); however, the change does not remain and every time I close the Impress document, the default goes back to 1 inch. Is there any way that I can make this change persistent?
Thanks.

Hi brad.o

I opened the following : LibreOffice Impress document ; named orange.odp / and then proceeded to Tools / Options / LibreOffice Impress / General / Settings / Tab Stops . . . manipulating the ( plus ) and ( minus ) for tab sizes . . .

after several attempts of selecting various settings for different ‘tab stop’ measurements including
0.24” through 3.00” measurements / Apply tab / OK tab / saving my work / closing the document (.odp) / re-opening the document ( .odp ) / . . to always find my last desired tab settings just as I had last saved it .

I am not saying my steps will work exactly for you . I’m just saying that I was successful in saving my work … closing my work & reopening my work with my desired settings still in place vs a
a default ‘tab stop’ of 1” .

LibreOffice Version: 6.4.7.2

Please let me know If I’ve misunderstood your situation / sorry if this has not helped you

Also … if you are hoping all future created Impress documents keep the same tab setting ; everytime you want to create a new document / file … I would imagine on a coding level for the developers of LibreOffice ( and having a permanent tab setting for each new doc ) would be less of a feature requirement to that of individuals wanting to be able to set various tab settings with each new document . But, i dont write code . : ( i’m assuming only .

Thanks hubmlebee,

my Impress version is 7.3.6.2 of LibreOffice Community on ubuntu 22.04.01. I tried the + and - buttons like you suggested; however, that did not work either. There must be something different in this version of LibreOffice I imagine.

The problem with this new tab stop is that all my previous slides are now corrupt somehow, as the tabbed lines are too much indented (about 10chars). I cannot even keep this for the same file after I change it and close the file, then re-open and the same 1 inch of indentation!
