impress video playback mp4 flickering (Ubuntu 18 & 19,. LO 6)

Hello my first post here, trying to feedback something useful.

I’m using LO 6.2.4 (Build ID: 1:6.2.4-0ubuntu0.19.04.1) and found that embedded .mp4 videos playback but with a flickering effect (like jagged random lines inserted). This also happened playing same impress file on different machine running Ubuntu 18.04 and LO 6.

I found a solution on archwiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LibreOffice) and wanted to report it so it could be published more widely. The Solution is:-

Edit environmental variable SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen

I also wanted to know if it is a bug where I could report it so a more user friendly solution could be made?

Thanks ebot, that’s a nice summary of video functions but doesn’t address my question : is this a bug and how to report it.

Report Bug goes to Bugzilla. Can you even look there, if there is something to it.
