I’m a long term Libreoffice Calc user. One of the things that still seems weird to me is that the language for cells in Calc has to be changed via:
Format cells… > Font > Language
In my mind language has nothing to do with formatting or fonts.
Is there another more logical way to set the language for a cell in Calc?
Something like this would be more logical to me:
Cell properties > Language
No there is no other way.
And the concern that you describe is very similar to tdf#151290 by @EyalRozenberg.

Note that having language as cell property would be equally wrong, as it is a portion of text attributed with a language, not an entire cell (unless all cell’s text content is attributed with the same language maybe).
