I normally use LibreOffice, but can’t quite avoid having MS Office (365) on my computer also. For making a new file, I normally go to the folder where I want it, right-click, choose “new” and pick the type of file I want. But every time MS Office does an update (often), it deletes the LibreOffice (open document) links from that menu and installs only itself. Is there some way to prevent that from happening? Or is there some way that LibreOffice can repair the damage?
The problem might be caused by saving your documents in MS formats (.doc etc) instead of native LibreOffice formats (.odt etc). Which format do you use?
Is there some way to prevent that from happening?
How would LibreOffice change what MS Office (installer) does?
Or is there some way that LibreOffice can repair the damage?
Yes: use LibreOffice installer to repair.
I use open document formats with LibreOffice and MS formats with MS office, though I may do a rare “save as” with opposite formats.
I had tried the repair option a while ago, but it failed. Tried it again today, three times. Worked twice, failed once. That was better than I thought after the original fail. I may just keep trying to do things this way.
