V 6.4. Long Writer /.odt doc, Many chapters, Chapter TofC works perfectly, but Chapter Index offers only two or three lines adjacent to from wherever I insert / index / etc… Whole Document / Index also works well.
Difficult to understand the structure of your book. And what is the question? Do you want to add a “chapter ToC” inside every chapter? Do you use consistently the structuring styles Heading n?
Please, reopen your topic (click on … below it, then on the “pencil” icon) to enter edit mode. Reword it so that people not able to see your screen can have an idea of the general organisation with enough “technical” details (such as styling) to reproduce it locally. State clearly what you expect, how you did it and what you got. Which kind of help do you request?
Mention your OS name (because there are slight differences between platforms), the exact LO version (6.4 is rather generic; 6.4.x.y is better; note also that 6.4 series is obsolete).
For best advice attach a sample file (5 pages max around the location where you have a problem).
