Insert ODF image from Draw into Calc

Drew a picture in Draw, saved it and went to calc to insert it into my spreedsheet, but Calc does not support ODF import!.
I saved it again as SVG and could continue but come on
version 7.1.1.2 on x64 windows 10

copy&paste from help menu:-

Version: 7.1.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fe0b08f4af1bacafe4c7ecc87ce55bb426164676
CPU threads: 6; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-GB (en_GB); UI: en-GB
Calc:CL

I’d never try to import a “Draw picture” (ODG - Format) in another application because it is a container format. I’d use raster graphics or vector graphics (e.g. SVG, as you mentioned in your question).
Draw: If using the clipboard you only copy one ore more than one object and not the entire environment of Draw…

By the way: Is this an answer to your question?

Well as I said, I saved it to SVG format and used that.
By container format I take it you mean it can span several pages and contain multiple images, bit like PDF.
Yes I see it would be difficult to choose what to import or show

Thanks for the input

A Draw file (.odg) simply isn’t a drawing of any graphical format. ODF doesn’t define this kind of formats, but rules for converting a document edited with any appropriate application from its RAM representation to a file, as a persistent representation.
If you want to embed such a file into a Calc document or a Writer document, you need to use >Insert>Object>OLE Object.... What you get then will show a graphic on the surface, but also give access to the editable content.

Save a drawing in an image file format
It also works with SVG
