Insert Other Field - not working with Ctrl F2 nor pull down menus

Hello,

I’m a little puzzled by this oddity. I’ve been a long time user of OpenOffice and recently switched over to LibreOffice 3.5.0.
In Writer, I’m trying to Insert Other fields, but without any success. The default fields in the initial pull down menu work just fine in my documents. However, when I try to use any of the OTHER fields, either via the pull down menus or Ctrl F2 the results are always a gray blank space inserted and no text. Example would be the Modified Date and Time fields. Just to gray blank spaces are inserted.
Any thoughts as to what I am doing incorrectly, if anything?

Thanks. Some specs below.

Current software platform is;

LibreOffice 3.5.0rc3 Build ID: 7e68ba2-a744ebf-1f241b7-c506db1-7d53735

Firefox 10.0.2

MS WIN7 Home Premium 6.1.7601 SP1 Build 7601

Hi Rus, I get grey boxes with the Field Names in them initially, not blank grey boxes, so I am not sure if this is the same problem as you have. It seems it defaults to displaying Field Names and not Field Values. Anyway if you haven’t already, try toggling View/Field Names or Ctrl F9 as this switches between displaying Field Names and displaying Field Values. (Vista 32 SP2, LibreOffice 3.5.2 Release Writer)

The modified date and time fields will show just a gray blank space if your document is not yet saved. Save your file and those fields will update.

I thought of that, but after several saves, closings, and reopening of the App and Docs affected the results remain the same. The default INSERT fields show immediately without a save and the OTHER Fields never show, even after saving, closing, and then reopening the document. Other ideas, Thx

I am having this same problem as well. Has anyone found the solution?
Mac 10.6.8
LibreOffice Version 3.6.6.2 (Build ID: f969faf)

I just noticed that the “modified” condition is not set in the document properties, so there is no date for the “modified date” field to display. I am currently working on a file in Microsoft Word format (.doc), and on a hunch I tried saving as .odt - this fixed the problem.

It would appear that LibreOffice is unable to write a modified date to the document properties when saving in Microsoft Word format, but it can do it when saving as an Open Document Text format. If using the Microsoft format, you will not be able to use this kind of field in your documents.

I hope this helps.
