When I attempt to create a new worksheet with the “Insert sheet…” menu option I make my selections (insert after current sheet, etc.) but after browsing for the ‘from file’ and selecting, nothing useful happens. The dialog loses its “OK” button. It’s as though the file selected by browsing never gets returned.

Yes, Debian GNU/Linux bullseye/sid (testing); linux kernel version 5.2.0-3-amd64.
Since this is a development release of Debian 11, I wouldn’t expect everything to work fine. There are two suggestions:
Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> General -> Option: [x] Use LibreOffice dialogs) as a workaround.PS: Cannot confirm behavior on Debian 10.1 (my Debian test system).
