There are knit symbol fonts available for knitters to create charts in Charts program. They are available for Linux/Chrome OS/iOS.
How can I install them?
That is an operating system question, nothing to do with LO. Happily, fonts are pretty magical; what happens if you right-click or double-click the font file in a file manager? Is there an option to install? If so, go for it. You might need to restart LO to see a newly installed font.
A thing to be considered from the LO’s point of view: not all types of fonts are supported. To be on the safe side, use TrueType / OpenType.
