Installation on mac

I am installing libreoffice on a mac book pro running macOS Catalina 10.16.7
I got the window described and placed the file into the application folder. Everything seamed to go properly. I have Java version 1.8.0_91 (en)

I click on the app using finder/applications/libreoffice. I click open but nothing happens

What did I do wrong

Also I want to use this program to read an old excel file with extension wk1
Will this program do that

That file may be older than Excel. Most likely it started life in Lotus 1-2-3.
LibreOffice Calc will open wk1-format Lotus 1-2-3 files.
