I’ve downloaded a Windows 10 driver for my Brother printer.
How do I install it so that I can print from LibreOffice?
Surely you have a manual for your printer. It will tell you how to install the printer. There may be three ways to specify the connection.
- Network
- USB
- WIFI
If the printer is installed correctly:
- specify in the operating system that this is the default printer
- e.g. select the printer in Writer in the
File > Printer settings
menu.
Printer troubleshooting under LibreOffice
Good luck!
The printer driver is installed in the operating system, not LibreOffice.
Close all programs.
- Read the Quick Setup Guide that came with your printer and follow those instructions for physical set up. If you don’t have it, you can download it from Manuals for your printer, start here to follow the trail , Download Software for Printers and All-in-Ones | Brother
- When you get to the stage of installing the driver, find it where you downloaded it, probably in Downloads.
- Double-click the driver installation file (exe) that you downloaded and follow the installation instructions on screen
- Print a test print
- Open LibreOffice and print something from there as a test.
Thank you. I had to enlist the help of Microsoft.
It took the man at least half an hour, but we got there in the end.
