I have various charts of data and would like to add text comments to highlight issues on the chart. Is there any way to do this?

If the chart is in edit mode, you can use its drawing toolbar. Not all shapes are available, but you will find a “Text box” and a “Callout”. The drawings are put in front of the chart elements. If the drawing toolbar is disabled, go to menu View > Toolbars > Drawing.

However, when you remove the chart from edit mode the text disappears.
Same thing happens when you add a Line.
