Q:
I wish to learn : is LO designed to exploit a multi-core (i7) processor environment ?
or it runs by design on single processor core only ???
(although there are 7 more available)
P:
During daily work, I am manipulating large spreadsheets, w/ lot of vlookup’s and other similar functions.
It slows down the laptop for a long duration.
I have monitored w/ System monitor :
- one single core (out of 8) is loaded almost 100%,
- the rest just a few percents
- swap memory bank ( 4GB ) is exploited by nearly 100%
The comparison w/ MS Office Excell, on same data, same machine, same file format shows :
- parallel exploitation of 8 processor core-s
- faster run ( fraction of the LO )
The (wished to) work environment :
- Lenovo T520
- Ubuntu 12.04, 64bit
- LO 3.6.
