I would like to create a printable day planner with the month, day and 15-minute timeslots, by using the macros, rather than having to fill in each line individually on each sheet in calc. I need to create a day sheet which starts at 07:00am and finishes at 19:00, with one line per 15min timeslot to write in appointments. Despite there being many references to downloadable templates for open office and libreoffice, I have not found anything which works.

I dont think there’s a complete calc-tutorial out - but think - if it would exist- you would need 10 Days to read it, another 90 days to understand the whole stuff, not to mention about writing and using the Makros you talking about –
So start simply with filling a Template, for Example start with 07:00 and 07:15 in the next Cell, select both and pull down …
Most of that you need you will learning by doing, don’t hesitate to ask if this Method doesnt work in some Detail.
