Is there a problem with sorting a text or spreadship entries v 4.2.8.2?

Hi,
When I try to sort entries of either a spreadsheet or a text document it doesn’t work.
I select the area to be sorted and then specify the column. Result, no change in sequence.
This is occurring with OS X Yosemite and Libreoffice 4.2.8.2.
