Is there a way to exclude some words the auto-correct’s auto-completion list?

I’d like to exclude certain words from the auto-correct list. Deleting them isn’t enough.

I allow auto-correct to collect words as I use many not is the standard lists.

Yet I keep getting a word that I used once showing up for auto-complete because it sorts before the word I use much more often. For example “Thurs-Sat” and “Thursday”. I use “Thursday” all the time, yet I have to type “Thursd” before auto-complete will pick it over “Thurs-Sat”, a one keystroke savings.

I’ve deleted these kinds of words many times but with collection turned on they keep returning. Being able to remove collected words after closing a document helps some but doesn’t solve my problem.

From what I’ve learned I can either live with this problem or turn off collection and manually add the many non-standard words I use to the auto-correct list.

Am I missing something else?

Thanks,

Luke

Manually enter the words. It will cut down on time and frustration. Or if you have a lot of non-standard words for a particular document or job, consider a separate dictionary just for those.

Personally, I type very fast and don’t like to pause. I don’t like to think outside the box of what I am translating from my head to my fingers. I have never liked auto-correct since most of the time the words offered are not right, are a distraction, and when it does get to the right word, I’ve already typed close to 90% of it anyway.

Thank you for responding but my preference is for using auto complete.

Personally the arthritides in my hands makes typing painful at times. Fewer keystrokes lead to less pain.
