Is there a way to stop migration of comment indicators from hidden columns?

I am brand new to LibreOffice having just bitten the bullet and migrated from Windoze to Ubuntu. Please be patient with me.

I have a spreadsheet with a few dozen columns tracking monthly values many of which have explanatory comments. To facilitate reviewing and editing I often hide the columns of older values not currently needed. I have found that any comment indicator of a a hidden column is migrated to the left. This results in my labels in Column A all have comment indicators (no comment values).

This is very distracting. Since I am not interested in the hidden values, I am also not interested in whether or not they have an underlying comment. I would like to turn off this migration of the comment indicators if possible. Thanx in advance.

Congratulations on the switch to (almost) free software.

I doubt that LibreOffice has any user settings for turning off left-migration of comment indicators, but they can be hidden entirely: ToolsOptionsLibreOffice CalcView and untick Comment indicator.

Thanx for your quick response. I suspected as much.

Turning off all comment indicators was actually worse as they are needed for the columns that have not been hidden. I suspect that over time I will just get used to them over there in the far left column.
