Issue with hitting enter to start new paragraph

Hello,

I am new to Libre and had a strange issue when I started using the Writer. Every time I hit enter to start a new paragraph or put a line between the paragraphs, instead moving the text down, the text moves up and erases the previous space I placed between the previous paragraphs. This keeps the bottom paragraph in place rather than moving it down. How do I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Click Tools - AutoCorrect - Autocorrect options - Options and untick the box Styles.

Empty paragraphs cause problems, better to use Body text paragraph style which has proper spacing between paragraphs.

Body text paragraph style is automatically set for the next paragraph after Heading n. It can be applied by double clicking Body Text in the Styles page of the Sidebar or by pressing Ctrl+0
.

More information on using styles can be found in the Writer Guide, download from English documentation | LibreOffice Documentation - LibreOffice User Guides

I followed your instructions but the Autocorrect options is already set to uncheck (both boxes) Apply Styles.

As for the paragraphs, that seemed to help as I erased all empty paragraphs and setting it to Body Text. What should I set the space between paragraphs as? It seems to be in inches.

Thanks for your assistance.
