Issue with tracked changes : deleted and added words

Hi, I’m using the latest version of Writer (7.2.7.2, on a Mac)and I have issues with the Tracked changes feature/Record changes. After I do the changes (without accepting them), I close the document, and then when I open it again, all the words I’ve added are marked as deleted words! So if I do Accept change, all those words disappear. It’s been a nightmare because I’ve worked a lot and now all my work is useless and I’m panicking.

These are the things on the toolbar, you can see which are used. My document is saved with the Word 2007-365 docx format.

I’ve been looking everywhere and I can’t find the solution.

CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.12.6; UI render: default; VCL: osx
Locale: en-US (en_FR.UTF-8); UI: en-US

Which one? under which OS?

Under which format do you save it?
What is your “track changes” configuration?

The easiest way to answer these questions is to edit your question (don’t start a conversation with comment; it only makes the question more difficult to understand) and attach a sample file (2 pages max).

I’ve edited my question! Thank you for the questions!

You save in an alien format, .docx. This format is proprietary and not totally retro-engineered (and this constitutes an infringement on intellectual property). In addition Micro$oft frequently makes modification to it without notice. This is perfectly legitimate as it is proprietary and targeted for a proprietary application. Consequently, your document incurs one conversion when loaded into memory and another conversion when saved to disk. The approximations in conversion are cumulative over the editing sessions, damaging over and over your document.

Many features can be kept only in native format.

First thing to do is to save your document as .odt. Unfortunately, formatting is already damaged, even if you follow M$ Word workflow with direct formatting. In case your storage as .docx was motivated by collaborative work with external recipients under M$ Word, keep the reference document as .odt and work exclusively with it (if you’re the original author). Send only .docx copies prepared at time of transmission.

Now, a screenshot doesn’t allow to diagnose any cause probably stemming from formatting. So, please, attach a 2-page sample file still exhibiting the issue.
