Attempting to get Report Builder working. Installation appears to go correctly. Issue is when trying to Finish (or execute) report, receiving error message ‘java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError’

Please clarify 'Installation appears to go correctly. ’ Report Builder should be already installed when Base is present thus no installation is needed.
Just changed over to my Ubuntu system (16.04). Modified ppa, installed v5.3.3.2 and created a report without any problems.
You’re Ubuntu is rather old relative to your new LO 5.3. I suggest you upgrade Ubuntu.
Also here is a better explanation of what throws this error. This suggest to me that you perhaps also have an old Java.
Update and this will go away.
