Jeffy 2 Perhaps Newbie Questions

  1. In Windows 10, Can LO open Apache 4.015, Files with the .ods & odt extension?
  2. I now have NO MSO files, only Apache, but might in the future. Would selecting this feature, enhance or hinder my chances of achieving positive results on Question 1.
Thank you in advance for showing some patience to my Newbie status.

Yes. There should be no problems for LibreOffice to open files from Apache OpenOffice, sometimes referred as AOO.
.
Please note this is not true for the other direction. LibreOffice uses newer revisions of the standard (1.3 and 1.4), while AOO still uses 1.2. Especially for encrypted files, you can open them only in newer LibreOffice.
.
It is possible to enforce 1.2 also in LibreOffice, if this is necessary for compatibility.
.
Reading and writing files in MS-Office formats is independent of compatibility to AOO. A general point on this: The file will be translated in the structures of LibreOffice on load and teanslated back on save. Treat this like a translation of speech: Do it, when necessary. Check the results and avoid doing it permanently. So prefer to work with .od*-files.

Thank You so much, this prompt response.
