Libre draw blank formulas

Greetings! I recently encountered a problem with libre draw. All formula elements appear as blank boxes which i can’t edit. I don’t know if it is relevant but lines and arrows are depicted normally. This happens on debian wheezy 7.11 using libre office 3.5.4.2 and all files are .odg. Tinkering with the view options in libre office/draw tools didn’t help. That is not the case on windows (with a newer version of libre office) where files are read without problems. Any ideas?

Could you possibly try with a newer version on the same OS?

I would like to avoid that, if possible. I sounds like a hustle.
