Libre office refuses to save any new documents. Neither will it save any document as 'save as"

the message i get is

Error saving the document Untitled 1:

Have you given LibreOffice full disk access from System Preferences > Security & Privacy?

What kind of path is this? I would assume that such a path corresponds to some application’s private temporary storage…

Remove unedited downloads: ‘when Mail Quits’ looks like what could drop a document opened in LibreOffice while it still is open…

First, bear in mind i’m 72 and not very computer savvy.
Thanks for response.

I’ve been using Libre Office for around 7-8 years and this only arose yesterday evening, seemingly from nowhere.

I haven’t changed anything on Systems Settings, partly because I have no idea what I’d be doing if I went there.

I’ve shut down and restarted and the problem has remained.

My guess would be, you opened something, wich was sent to you by email?

If you open an attached file, you can usually view, but not edit and save.

If my guessing is right, try to save the attachment first to your home-folder. (Either try the context-menu, or check, if your mail-program shows buttons to save attachments.) Then open the new file in your home-folder.

Thanks for the answer.

I have no idea what this path is. I and 72 and not very computer savvy.

None of this means anything to me!

I don’t know where to turn to for this. I can’t save any documents at all now which makes my laptop virtually unusable.

Can I contact Libre office direct?

It might help if you told us which operating system your computer uses (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc), and which version it is (7, 11, 29, 110), and what program you are using to receive or view these documents (a mail program like Thunderbird, MS Outlook, etc, or something else).

You have explained that you are not very computer savvy. This might be a good opportunity for you to learn something about the file system on your computer, essential knowledge for most computer users. (I am in my eighties, so please don’t be insulted by my suggestion.)

Make sure you have selected the correct destination for your files. Files cannot normally be saved back to a mail application. Normally, on a Mac you would want to select Documents folder.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

Mysteriously, this fault seems to have corrected itself on its own. I haven’t changed anything but it now seems to be OK. Very odd.

Thanks
