In this Libre Office version for macOS High Sierra it is not possible to set “Use Java runtime environment” and so Base does not work.
In the same machine Libre Office 5.3.0.3 works with Base.
@charlie.it This doesn’t seem to fit version numbers your talking about but I’ll mention it anyway - Bug#112551 related to JDK-9.
In order to upload LibreOffice to the Mac App Store, any feature implemented in Java had to be disabled. Java is not allowed in the Mac App Store.
