libre office won't install on linux.

Went into the libreoffice home page and downloaded the program. Downloaded ok according to the computer. Icon appeared on desktop but doesn’t work. Tried to install program but won’t install. Tried downloading with both firefox and google chrome but the above were the results.

When using Linux, you should normally install software from your distro’s repositories by the procedure/using the software manager specific to the distro. Why did you not do it?

Anyway, read these guidelines and ask a good question.

In general Linux isn’t a “Click & Install” system. You need to tar - xf <packagename>.tar.gz first before you install using (depending on your system package management type) sudo rpm -Uhv *.rpm or dpkg -i *.deb

Should be rpm -ivh *.rpm, -Uvh is for upgrading, not installing.

@gabix - test it and you’ll see that it works as well, though formally of course you are right.
