LibreOffice 26.2.0.3 Bug? with Windows 11 Pro [some files open in read-only mode]

Is it tdf#170615? also tdf#170297

Sorry. I don’t understand your question

Sorry, I meant maybe it is either of those. I asked the question because 170615 is about Samba shares however the second bug report is wider regarding network shares.

My post has nothing to do with shares.

The description was similar to your initial question.

When the document was changed LO asks for save before close. Even if the user decides to save the document or not the file attribute “readonly” is set. The next time the document can be opened only readonly.
In case the user decides to “Save as” not the original file but the saved as document gets the file attribute readonly.

It would be best to create a bug report, How to Report Bugs in LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Wiki and post the number back here in the same format, tdf#1123456
.
You can downgrade to an earlier version, e.g. 25.8 by uninstalling the current version and then installing the older version

Same problem here. Some files are locked in read only mode, and can’t be saved. This was started after the upgrade of Libre Office v 26.2.0.3
Libre Office : 26.2.0.3 (X86_64)
OS : Windows 11 Pro 25H2 built 26200.7840

A lot of people are having this problem > deleted the new LibreOffice update and went back to the last one.

Same problem with all Windows 11 PCs and Libreoffice 26.2.0.3. No problem with the other Windows 11 PCs and LibreOffice 25.
=> We will switch back to the previous version.

I have same problems here. Already posted on the NL forum but no usable answer, people seem to not listen carefully to the problem.

I store my files on an SMB-share on a Ugreen NAS. All settings on windows11, the NAS and SMB are default. Nevertheless all files are saved with the Windows filesystem read-only attribute On.
I disabled the use of lockfiles, deleted the profile, all no solution.

‘Solutions’ I get are fully useless like Remove RO-attribute before editing, save the file with another name, and comments showing that my problems is totally misunderstood.

I have recently switched from MS to LO for obvious reasons but if LO works so tedious I feel forced to throw the towel and return to a program MUCH more user-friendly.

It is the bug 170297 listed several times in the comments to this question. It is fixed for 26.2.2 and doesn’t occur in versions prior to 26.2.
.
Generally, I would say never use a xx.x.0.x version for work, install the older more stable version listed on the same page.
See Release Plan

I sympathize with you. The only real solution for this problem at this time seems to be to uninstall the newest version of LibreOffice and go back to version 25.8.5, which was the latest previous version that did not have the problem.

I have the exact same problem. I do not use this for work. I will never update the software again?

I feel I should contribute as this issue has caused many waisted hours. What I can contribute is that the problem does not seem to occur when I store files on my local C drive. Secondly, I uninstalled version 26.2.0 and installed version 25.8.4 and I still had the read only issues. I then uninstalled 25.8.4 and installed 7.4.2 and the issue is now completely gone!!
Also in case it helps, I am storing files on a Synology NAS with the latest DSM.

I also am storing files on a Synologyn with the latest DSM. I uninstalled 26.3, went back to 25.8.4, and have had
no further problems. I can’t test the local vs. network issue because the problem is now gone.

We can store the files local. We cannot store the file a 2nd time on the network (Syntology with the latest DSM). All PCs have Windows 11 and the problem only occurs after the installation of LibreOffice 26.2.0.3. When we switch back to 25.8.4: No problems anymore.

I too recently upgraded to 26.2.03 and am having issues with lockfiles not being deleted when I used a windows share. The issue does not occur when I store locally.

Bug 170297 - Semaphore file not deleted at close of a document on a network drive (computer or NAS)

We installed 26.2.1 on one PC. Problem seems to be solved.

This Read-Only bug is most definitely a bug in V26.
Like many others I spent a lot of time reading useless answers and trying around.

I read the advice of LibreOfficeJim1 and a few others to uninstall 26 and install 25.8.4 and the problem vanished.
