I am experiencing a very noticeable (and distracting) lag when typing in Writer. There is a very discernible interval between when a key is pressed and when the character appears on screen. I am using OS X 10.10.5 and LibreOffice 5.0.1.2. Otherwise love LibreOffice but this makes the program unusable for me.
The sole program affected?
5.0.1 is part of the Fresh branch (little-tested software). How about 4.4.5 from the Still branch? (much greater testing) (you should be able to dual-install, if necessary). If that is also affected then it is far more likely to be your Mac that has the issue than LO. If not, then perhaps make a bug report (direct or use the Bug Submission Assistant).

I have a dual install with 4.4.4006 (LibreOffice Vanilla from the Apple store). LibreOffice Vanilla does not have the same problem.
I’m experiencing the same lag issue with Writer in 5.0.1.2, having just migrated from 4.3.5. I’m on Windows 7 Home. I’ve submitted a bug report to Bugzilla.

Same problem here on 5.0.2.2 (Win7). Especially AutoHotKey scripts are now broken, because off the lag …
same issue here, I though I’d suddenly become dyslexic.
No other application has this problem.
Problem seems to be linked to language, it works OK if I type in English
but if i type in French “J’ai cru devenir fou” (I thought I’d become crazy)
I get
“j’ai cru edvenir fou” (1st attempt)
“j’ai cru deevnir fou” (2d attempt)
unworkable…
