LibreOffice 5 starts multiple instances of itself at bootup, then won't open until they are closed in Task Manager

LibreOffice 5.0.4.2

After startup, multiple instances of soffice.exe and soffice.bin are loaded. If you double-click a document or try to open LibreOffice, it will not start until these zombie processes are terminated.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, no change.

This seems like it might be a very old bug, reported as far as back as 2010 in OOo and LO forums.

I can’t upload a screen cap as they system requires points (really???).
