LibreOffice 6.4 Help shows Writer, not browser. How can I change default?

I upgraded to LibreOffice 6.4. When I first clicked on Help/LibreOffice Help F1 it asked me a question. Do you want help displayed in browser or Writer. I choose Writer which then displays “NewHelp1.html - LibreOffice Writer/Web” at the top of the screen with a blank document. Where do I go to change this setting so that selecting Help brings up a browser tab? Thank you in advance

If you expect an answer, edit your question to add OS name and precise LO version. How did you update? A manual installation or some automated procedure?

OS Windows 10, downloaded LibreOffice_6.4.7_Win_x64.msi and installed successfully, downloaded LibreOffice_6.4.7_Win_x64_helppack_en-US.msi and installed successfully.

Hello,

I choose Writer which then displays “NewHelp1.html - LibreOffice Writer/Web”

This decision probably caused file association of .html to Writer. It is not a setting made by LibreOffice but by Windows and therefore you need to change Windows to reassign .html documents to another application.

To set to use a browser:

  • Windows menu -> Settings -> Apps -> Default apps
  • Scroll down to link Choose default apps by flle type - click the link
  • Scroll down until you find .html. Click the icon right to the text
  • Select your preferred browser app in Choose an app (appears on click on the icon)

Note The screenshot shows the setting, which works for me, not your incorrect setting, which probably appears here and shows LibreOffice for .html entry.

Hope that helps.

You are absolutely correct. The .html file association was with Writer rather than a browser. Thank you. Problem solved.
