Yes.
And yesterday looked for
“19” - “2019” - “43510” (LO’s 2019-02-14) in odb’s xmls (it could be some default) but found nothing.
Version: 24.2.7.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 420(Build:2)
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 4:24.2.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.4
@BrianStew : Have a look here: Development/Environment variables - The Document Foundation Wiki
It is used for start LibreOffice for different window managers. Start it from terminal.
Might be
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen lowriter
will start Writer with the general window manger - looks very old, not gtk3-like. But when I see both installations the problem you posted doesn’t exist with KDE, but will appear in gtk. So I couldn’t write a bug for this. Might be the bug doesn’t appear in VCL=gen
@RobertG : Yes that worked, had to use SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice
but it’s clunky.
I also tried some things using my old laptop running Ubuntu 20.04 and LibreOffice
The same problem exists there (as expected because I’ve been using that for last 5 years).
I also tried creating a live DVD with:-
“openSUSE-Leap-15.6-KDE” and
“openSUSE-Leap-15.6-GNOME”
The GNOME version still has the 14th Feb 2019 date as centre point
The KDE version has current date as centre point.
This explains why you didn’t see the problem with your openSUSE KDE installation.
Where do I go from here to find a solution?
I’ve been putting up with it for years, but occasionally a rogue Valentine’s day pops in, however, my database shouldn’t contain any dates before 2020, so I had created a query to search for earlier rogue dates, such that I can correct them.
Does this hint that it might be a GNOME issue (is that different from gtk)?
@BrianStew : Write a bug for this: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/
It would be a bug with LibreOffice VCL gtk3.
Add the example database as attachment to the bug.
Add a link to the discussion of this thread.
Speculatively, by your large experience with this software: where this magical date would be kept stored?
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice
Bug reported - not holding breath as it’s just a minor inconvenience.
