LibreOffice Base images cannot be saved

I inserted an image in an image field [BLOB] in a form but the image disappear upon clicking the save button.
After closing and reopening the form, the image is not there either.

It appears that while I can insert images and the image can be displayed after inserting, it cannot be saved.
I am not sure what’s wrong or how to fix it.

There is no problem in storing images with proper set up. However, depending upon the database used it may be ill advised. See the answers presented here:

Hello, You do not state what database you are using. With HSQLDB embedded (v1.8) and embedded images there can be loss of data and crashes. See this post → Libreoffice DATABASE crashes and corrupts With other databases entry for embedded images is done through a Form using an image control. It is still recommended to not bloat a database with images (can be a performance issue) and instead use links to the images. See → How to insert a link to an odb database to display an image.

Hello, You are missing an important item of information - the database being used. Base has two different embedded databases you can use. HSQLDB uses Longvarbinary for embedding images. For Firebird use BLOB[BLOB] for embedded images (see → tdf#121886 for image issue). Now with that, it is typically better not to embed images for a variety of reasons. Better to link to them.
