Libreoffice : bibliography, at end of each page or chapter?

hello

I write sometimes documents, about 20/40 pages, sometimes less, or more
Problem is that on some of them, the bibliography, with libreoffice, is generated in only one unique bloc.
But, I see in lot of books, written about specific subjects, that references of some writings are directly a the bottom of the page, or at the end of the chapter.
Mean they dont have a unique huge block for each reference, each citation within the bibliography.

I tried with the foot note but it’s a simple text with a total liberty, without any feature or automatic/managed bibliography…

is there a way, a feature, to divide/split a bibliography between pages, at the bottom of each, or at the end of each chapter/part?

To avoid getting every minute at the full end of the document (ex for 20+pages) and rollback each time…

thank you!

Basically, no.

I think this is related to the fact you have a single database and no provision to flag an entry, whether automatically or manually, as belonging in a chapter or page.

Bibliography needs a parsing pass over text (this is the basis for all “tables” such as TOC, table of figures, alphabetical index). Some entries are “naturally” attached to some level like chapter headings and it is thus possible to make a distinction according to some level. But bibliography is meant to be global.

Bottom-of-page variant is next to impossible to implement because you don’t know where page break occurs.

End-of-chapter variant is possible if you accept a manual editing stage. Generate the bibliography at the desired location with Protected against manual changes unticked. Next, remove the non-relevant entries.

Be aware that this workaround is vulnerable to any edits you could add to your text, meaning you have to start it all over again if bibliography entries are added, removed or changed.

PS: when asking here, always mention OS name, LO version and save format.
