Libreoffice Calc 7.6.1.2 - new behavior while coloring range of cells

Hello,
I just updated LibreOffice to version 7.6.1.2 and have noticed a different behaviour when I try to set the colour of a range of cells in a row that has merged cells in some columns.
Up to the previous release, the program did NOT fill the merged cells with the color.
In the new release instead, when I select the last single cell of the range, it automatically extends the selected range to include the extent of all the merged cells. Consequently, when I set the new colour, all the selected cells get the new color.
Find the uploaded png showing what I tried to explain above.
Can someone tell me how to revert to the previous selection behaviour?

Maybe, there is a different selection setting now enabled by default?

I understand the new behaviour should be the most correct, but I got used to the old system and it’s easier while dealing with that file.
Any hint is very much appreciated.
Best regards

Any chance this could be the result of a new standard setting that can be modified from the Tools->Options pop up window?
Thanks for any advice,

Please describe that “the previous release”. Was it 7.6.0.3? Or 4.3.2.2? It really may make a difference.

HI Mike,
Thank you for spending some time on this.

I cannot clearly recall which previous version number it was (and I purged it after updating, unfortunately), but I think it was 7.5 something. Could be?

It could be one of those: Bug List

Nope.
I reinstalled Calc version 7.5.6.2 and can confirm it works differently.
Then I wanted to compare the settings with the latest release but I surprisingly found that it seems I’m not able to start two different versions of the program at the same time: apparently the second will keep the engine version of the first that was started. Can anyone confirm?

Otherwise, is there a way to export the settings of LO in a text file?

Could you please elaborate: “nope” what? I realize that you obviously have reasons for that - it’s just unclear for me, how all that “I reinstalled Calc version 7.5.6.2 and can confirm it works differently.
Then I wanted …” tells us that it’s not one of those fixes appeared in 7.6, absent in 7.5…

Hi Mike,
I reviewed the Bug List you linked but I couldn’t find anything similar to the reported behaviour.
Then I decided to reinstall the previous release and verified they indeed behave in a different way.
I took a couple of videos to show what what I’m trying to report.
LO Calc ver 7.5.6.2
LO Calc 7.6.1.2
Maybe it’s the case to open a case in the bug list, even though I’m not sure which of the two would be the “right” behaviour
