Libreoffice cant save login credentials when printing

I use Libreoffice 24.2.7.2 on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS. I have two network printers installed, one grey and one color. Both work very well with all other apps I have installed. LibreOffice however keeps prompting me for every print.

Why does it do that? How can I turn it off? Can’t it just save the credentials like the rest of the apps? It been like this since Ubuntu 20.04. I am developing a ubuntu platform at work and this have become so annoying over the years that we are thinking about other choices.

have you reported it already ?

it was apparently first FIXED -> https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/libreoffice-will-not-prompt-for-credentials-when-printing-to-a-cups-printer/8949

check 53029 – There is no authentication function when printing using CUPS on the network with LibreOffice Dialogs

thanks for reply
no, don’t know how. I thought someone must have did it already by this time.

I have seen that link before and tried the suggested solution in there back then and now, still not working.

can you narrow down your context, e.g #c22

sudo grep AuthInfoRequired /etc/cups/printers.conf

(output from sudo grep AuthInfoRequired /etc/cups/printers.conf)
AuthInfoRequired username,password
AuthInfoRequired username,password

Printing works from Libreoffice, its just that I have to authenticate every time for every print.
I have to enter it like this:
domain\username

so, that’s this one (not very helpful) : cups Authentication not working correctly

maybe related to 164526 – Print dialog doesnt remember last print settings

it was working before ? with the same LO ?

I don’t know if it has worked, but that’s when I started developing the Ubuntu platform and it has never worked from then until present day.
I tried both the Libreoffice that is in the Ubuntu repos and the newer ppa one from Libreoffice. Still same.

indeed doesn’t seem to store anything from there : https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/vcl/unx/generic/printer/cupsmgr.cxx
so, you should fill an enhancement request,

and since it may take ages before it get picked, try to set a workaround with config and/or macros on your side.

omg! I looked at the instructions on how to file a request. Yikes!

Its like filing a bug report for Ubuntu, which I don’t find easy at all (probably cause I did it once and never again)
I will start look towards other office apps I think, maybe OnlyOffice
