I was in the middle of saving a document when LibreOffice crashed. At first I thought the save took, but it didn’t and the document wasn’t recovered when I opened LibreOffice again. Now I have a locked .odt# file sitting in my documents directory with the same name (albeit a locked version) of my document. Can I use that to recover the document somehow?
Lock files are temporary, one stayed because of the crash. But do not contain data.
On a crash during save I would first draw a persistent copy of the last correctly saved state of the document. It locates in the backup folder/directory of the user profile.
Never switch off the option ‘Always create a backup copy’ in > ‘Tools’ > ‘Options’ > ‘Load/Save’ > ‘General’.
Explanations regarding the user profile you find in this wiki page.
