LibreOffice is converting pdf scans to chinese even in english setting

Hello,

LibreOffice is somehow converting PDF scans from my Canon 6420a scanner printer into Chinese. I have double checked the scanner and LibreOffice to make sure the language was not switched and it is set to English.

I have just noticed that some of the other documents that were okay before, are also in Chinese. Once I open them and try and correct them, everything gets really slow and keeps saying program is not responding.

I was not having a problem with this until the last LibreOffice Update 2 or 3 days ago

• Sample file?

(The LibreOffice is not a PDF editor even it is not a PDF reader software.)

IMHO LibreOffice has no auto-translation.

More likely you read somehow the “source” of the partly binary file verbatim and utf-charsets show chinese characters.

At first step: Check your pdf-files with a simple pdf-viewer (Acrobat reader, evince, okular and modern browsers like chrome, firefox can also read pdf).

After making sure your pdf-files are readable you may start with opening in Draw.

Are your files encrypted somehow?
