LibreOffice on Mac slow to open dialogs

I’ve been using LibreOffice on Mac for many years, and this is a new problem. I’ve checked for previous solutions, but they either aren’t relevant or haven’t fixed the problem.
The problem is that LibreOffice has become very slow (and shows the coloured pinwheel) when I ask it to edit a Style (e.g. Body Text). It pauses for several seconds, then the pinwheel appears for more seconds, and finally the dialog opens.
This began after I tried experimenting with Font Works (something I’ve never needed before).
I’ve tried deleting the LibreOffice folder from Library/Application Support; I’ve updated to the latest Mac release of LibreOffice; I’ve not been able to change memory allocations because this option is not in the list of preferences. I’ve also tried toggling all manner of Preference options - all to no avail. I’ve also run a check on the SSD (it’s fine) and run Onyx maintenance on the MacBook. Nothing has made a difference and I’ve run out of ideas.
I’m running MacOs Monterey 12.7.6 and LibreOffice 24.8.3.2.

Please can someone help?

Bob

Please test in safe mode, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

Thank you for your reply. I still have the problem if I open LibreOffice in safe mode. :frowning:
