Libreoffice stops responding after opening preferences

Hi,

When I attempt to open the preferences window (either by opening it via the menu bar or via the keyboard shortcut) the cursor becomes the spinning wheel of death and the application stops responding. I’m running the latest version of LibreOffice (24.8.0) but this has happened with every version I’ve tried since I got the computer in August of 2023. This happens regardless of what type of file I have open, or even if I don’t have any files open at all. I have given LibreOffice full disk access, as I think that was the solution to a different issue but that didn’t help.

My setup:
Macbook Pro 2023
Apple M2 Pro chip
Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93)
LibreOffice 24.8.0

Hi Elise, can you confirm whether this also occurs in safe-mode? If it does work in safe-mode you might need to create a new LibreOffice user profile and test that also.

Hi Ash, Unfortunately it does the same thing in safe mode.

This is unfortunate, and widens the possibility of causes. I’m no expert on MacOS so hopefully someone else will chime in here but I did find some very old issues that seem similar.

Someone reported accessibility issues causing the problem; you could check that on your system.
