Libreoffice Writer deleted cells in my table

I recently decided to use tables to organize my text documents more efficiently. I made a table that takes up the entirety of the page and inserted my text in there. I made 5 different columns and several rows, each column roughly the same width. When I saved the document and closed it again, the 2 columns on the right were deleted, along with all of the text in there. It also reformatted some other tables I had put a the bottom. I prefer to keep my text on as few pages as possible, but the document keeps reformatting it to look like **** and delete my text. I’m so frustrated.
How do i stop this, how do i keep the formatting i prefer, and how do i recover text from previous saved versions?

What format did you save the Writer document in?
What Operating System and LibreOffice version?

The columns on the right are unlikely to be deleted except through accidental action. Probably the right side of the table extends beyond to page. Right click the table and select Table Properties. In the Table tab set alignment to Left and the in the Width field set that to the margin width, e.g. 17 cm. OK. Drag columns back to expected places.

And how did you create the table? As a so-called “table style”? Only None has no unexpected reformatting on update.
