LibreOffice Writer table - problem to select all the text with mouse

Hi,

Since LibreOffice Writer 24.2, I have a problem to select all the text into a table.
I can’t select the first character of a cell, and same problem with the latest character (if it is near the end of the cell, near the column).
Bug is the same with 24.8 and 25.2
The mouse switch to double arrow to resize the column, but to early.

But, up to the “old” 7.6.7 : no problem.
The mouse switch to double arrow to resize the column, only on the column border.

Please, how can I fix that bug, of revert to the old action ?

Here is a new odt document, with the bug.
Same problem with all my olders documents.

I tried on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 and Windows Server 2022 Standard.

Ctrl+A selects the entire cell content when the cursor is within a cell.

Thanks I know that… but I often need to select a part of text, not the entire cell.
I workaround with mouse clic after the text needed and Shift + Left or Right Arrow, but it takes more time.

Just click and drag from the middle cell end of the selection.
Also can try with double click and drag.
And to select all the text, just click and drag out and in the cell.

I already use that workaround ; but not so useful for all situations.

It is usually a bad idea to fill completely table cells with text, i.e. not creating some “buffer space” to visually separate cells.

The “resize cursor” needs a trigger zone with a reasonable “trigger width”. This means this activation zone is wider than the strict 0.0cm implicit border between cells.

You can fix the issue by modifying table properties, Borders tab by increasing Padding width. Even a padding as small as 0.05cm is enough to dismiss the problem.

Thank you ; it works. But it need a lot of wasted time with each table.
And, I lost space into cells.
I have often cells “full” into my tables.

My question : why it was working up to Writer 7.6.7, and after with 24.2 and beyond, not ?

No idea. Perhaps the widget library has changed or developers increased a bit the “capture” zone to solve some usage issues (accessibility for all public).

Yes… that’s the point. We don’t know.
If a dev is there : maybe there is a setting to change that ?

If not… I will “close” the topic.
