I have been using LibreOffice for more than one year and I know all the buttons to save or restore text. The computer hung many times, part of what was written was lost. But this was only a part, and not in general, everything that has been written since the opening of the program. So now the problem was in the program.

But I wrote not about the problem, but about the fact that there is no more trust in the LibreOffice program. I do not want to constantly close and open the program, due to the fact that simple saving does not guarantee the safety of even part of what is written. Plus, updates are not installed normally for you, it’s impossible to understand anything, professional computer language is everywhere, and for some reason you don’t guess to make ONE button, after which everything works and you don’t need to press anything else. Why do I need heaps of settings in which I do not understand anything, if I need the bare minimum of functions from a text editor?

So I see 2 mistakes: You complain at the wrong place and you shouldn’t have used a full Office-suite when WordPad is all you need. Ask your SysAdmin why he/she/it installed it, and obviously not tested the installation. A disadvantage of the “personal computer” is, one often needs a mirror to shout at the admin.

Now I noticed another contradiction. Whoever you are, the dialogue must be conducted constructively in any case, even if the opponent does not. Or stop talking. In real life, of course, there are more options for responding, but the essence is still the same. Therefore, in such a situation, I would either delete the offending topic immediately, or inquire about the details of the problem. The person is upset, spoke out sharply, it happens. Maybe when he calms down, the situation can be turned in the other direction, turning the enemy into an ally.


If LibreOffice helps, then the next day, when I opened the program again, it offered to restore the document. Thinking there was some problem again, I agreed. That is, the program again deleted what was written, returning the text to a variant that I no longer need. It’s good that now I made sure and copied what was written to other places before closing the program.

WordPad does not suit me, because there (as far as I understand) there is no translation of the document into pdf format, but I need it. By the way, now this is a way to protect yourself from new problems with the loss of the written text. I periodically translate what I write into pdf format. Yes, I continue to use LibreOffice, just as you continue to use Russian natural gas in your countries. You have not yet found an alternative to it, and I have not yet found an alternative to LibreOffice. Maybe you won’t find it, and maybe I won’t. But past trust is undermined anyway.
